Media >>

Media are essential elements of arts education. They are becoming increasingly important for the entire culture of communication in our society particularly through new forms of information and communication via the Internet and mobile devices. In addition, it has become natural for children and young people to use media offerings such as computer and video games, smartphones or social networks. A competent and critical use of media in educational contexts has become one of the central tasks of media education and cultural skills. Adults also need to face up to the challenges posed by an education oriented towards media – be it at home, at school or in child and youth work. In particular with a view to holistic arts education, it is necessary to promote creative ways of media use in arts education. In addition, it is useful to eliminate subject-related boundaries in interdisciplinary approaches and provide qualified educators with ideas for exciting projects, to develop comprehensive cultural media education in their work with different target groups.
